OverviewDescription: Ultramarine blue pigment is a double-silicate of aluminum and sodium sulfite and naturally occurring as part of lapis lazuli. The color index indication is Pigment Blue 29. Ultramarine is one of the most complex mineral pigments. It is a sulfur-containing compound of sodium silicate, in essence, a mineralized limestone with a mineral called lazurite blue (the main component of lapis lazuli).
Ultra Marine Blue is oil-soluble and absorbs in a moderate amount of oil (38 to 42 g oil per 100 grams of pigment). It is compatible with all pigments, but is sensitive for acids, so avoid use thereof.
