Essential oil Cinnamon Bark - EO054
OverviewBotanical / INCI: Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Bark Oil
Synonyms: Cinnamon Bark
Origin: Indonesia
Description: Cinnamon is native to Ceylon and has been introduced into Europe as a spice since the 15th century. The cultivation of the cinnamon outside Ceylon has actually never been successful, so that today Ceylon still has a monopoly on the export of cinnamon, as it were. We owe the oldest bird protection law to cinnamon: in 1632 the Dutch government in Ceylon forbade the catching and killing of fruit pigeons. These birds loved cinnamon berries, ate them and thus created new plants.
The tree itself is tropical and can grow up to 15 meters. The bark and leaf of this tree are then harvested in the wild to produce either bark oil or leaf oil. Cinnamon oil is often used in skin care formulations. Both cinnamon oils blend well with citrus oils.
Extraction: Cinnamon bark oil is obtained by steam distillation from the bark of the cinnamon tree.
